Sufjan Stevens Album Cover

For the Widows in Paradise, For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti - Sufjan Stevens - Michigan

I was going through my giant list of songs I have lined up for all previous and future Music Mondays and shockingly I missed this song. I'm really not sure how I missed it, I had just assumed it was one of the first songs I threw in the list. This song is one of my all time favorites. It's one of those songs that takes me back to a time and place and feeling. Also, it reminds me of my love for The OC(The show not the place) where I first heard this song. I can't really explain why I love this song so much, it's not impressive musically in any way really. But, if you're curious as to one of very very few songs that been hugely influential in how I view music, this is one of them.

Dami Im Album Cover

Super Love - Dami Im - Heart Beats

Dami was the winner of the fifth season of X factor in Australia. She's a killer singer, songwriter, and plays the keys. I've been following her for a few years now and her songs range from great ballads to catchy pop songs like this one. If you like this one be sure and check out Sound of Silence the ballad she sang in Eurovision for Australia (Eurovision is like The Voice/American idol olympics, google it) Also, she did an entire album of Carpenters covers if you're into that, I love it.

Royal Wood Album Cover

Do You Recall - Royal Wood - The Waiting

Do You Recall was on a TV show I watched years ago. I loved the piano and old school vibe that reminded me a bit of Billy Joel so I searched like crazy on the internet because I didn't have Shazam at the time. I finally found song and had it on repeat for days. Royal Wood has some really great stuff with a unique sound that shouldn't be missed.

Katy Perry Album Cover

Hackensack - Katy Perry - Unplugged

I know, this one seems bizarre but trust me it's so good. Katy did this unplugged concert for MTV a few years back and she sang this cover of the Fountains of Wayne song Hackensack. It's chill with no gimmicks or weird costumes just her and a simple band singing a great song. If she ever decides to release an album of stuff like this I'll be the first in line to download it.

Foy Vance Album Cover

Gabriel & the Vagabond - Foy Vance - Hope

Second Foy Vance song for a Music Monday. He's just too good to pass up. This one is a decade old now but hasn't aged a day. I think a really good song doesn't age, it continues to be relatable forever. I think I could listen to Foy Vance sing and play pretty much anything and it wouldn't get old to me though. Go forth, listen and enjoy.

Week Eleven. Haven't run out of songs yet and I don't see an end in sight. Thanks for sticking with me.
