Guy Sebastian Album Cover

Set in Stone - Guy Sebastian - Set in Stone

First off, Guy Sebastian is an incredible vocalist, my favorite male vocalist ever in fact. Go to youtube, watch some of his raw covers and such. So. Good. He won the first season of Australian Idol, and before that he actually sang on a some old Planetshakers songs. I've been a fan since way back and had to buy his CDs from stores that had imports, it was difficult. Anyway, thankfully we now have the internet and Spotify/Apple Music. While most of his stuff is still difficult to find streaming this as well as a few others are available here in the US. I know I haven't talked about the song, it really doesn't matter because you need to listen to as much of his stuff as possible. Set in Stone is a good starting point. Now, go start listening (after you finish reading this blog post of course.)

Sara Groves Album Cover

It's Me - Sara Groves - Fireflies and Songs

This song is an emotional look at a fight between a couple. It's Me is one of the most clear looks at how we can lose ourselves in an argument and take advantage of the closeness we've built with the other in that fleeting, yet scarring moment. Fair warning, this song is a real downer so have some tissues ready and the last song in this post ready to play after for a pick me up.

Benjamin Wallfisch Album Cover

New World Coming - Benjamin Wallfisch and DiSA - New World Coming

You may recognize this song from one of two places. One, the trailer for the movie Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, or Two, the old song sang by Mama Cass of The Mama & The Papas. It's eerie and builds so intensely. The old Mama Cass version also very ominous while still sounding somewhat bright and positive. It's a weird one for sure but I love it.

The Rescues Album Cover

The City And The River - The Rescues - Let Loose The Horses

I have been loving this song for a good 7 years now. I don't really want to spoil it for you because it's just put together so well. There are city elements added to the music that really make it special. The song builds and then brings it all back down along with the lyrics at times to tell a really wonderful story. I always find myself coming back to this song and I'm never disappointed.

Brandin Reed Album Cover

Pour Out Love - Brandin Reed - Brandin Reed

Brandin's album came out this summer and it's been in my road tunes rotation ever since. If you liked Jessie Baylin from one of my previous posts I really think you'll enjoy his stuff. It's like Americana, not quite country but it sounds like what home feels like. An album you can roll the windows down and just drive. Pour Out Love is the perfect song for a good drive, so start there and let the album just sit on repeat.

Thanks for sticking around. Same place, next Monday.
