Aron Wright Album Cover

Heartbeats - Aron Wright - Heartbeats

Grey's Anatomy has been a great source of new music for me since I started watching all those years ago. Heartbeats was featured on this past weeks episode (S14E5) and it was so perfectly placed. The song is emotional and driving. A simple repeated note on a piano can carry so much weight, I'm always surprised by the power in simplicity. The build at the end gives me all the feels.

Portugal The Man Album Cover

Feel It Still (Lido Remix) - Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still

If you've listened to the radio or watched any TV lately, odds are you've heard this song. I feel like it's all over the place right now, but this remix is not. I have been playing this remix nonstop while getting ready(AKA my dedicated dance time) the past few days. It's impossible to keep from bouncing around while listening to it. I'm also a big fan of the random sound effects throughout the song.

YEBBA Album Cover

Evergreen - YEBBA - Evergreen

Ok, I'm gonna be totally honest right now, I'm not a huge fan of YEBBA's covers and such all over the net. She is incredible, seriously amazing, but it's usually just a little too much vocally for me. I love a good melody and sometimes with crazy vocals it just gets lost. All that aside, this song is so great. Great vocal that still lets the song shine. The song reminds me at times of Emily King's stuff, which I consider a huge compliment. Some songs make you feel cool while you listen, this is one of those songs.

The Kite String Tangle Album Cover

The Devil You Know - The Kite String Tangle - The Kite String Tangle

This song starts off simply with some piano and a reserved vocal. The chorus is still pretty reserved and then the music comes in punchy with a "Kanye, Through The Wire"-esque squeaky vocal hook. I love the lost drastic change between the two. The back and forth keeps this song super interesting to me and I don't see myself losing that interest any time soon.

Mark Scibilia Album Cover

Jericho - Mark Scibilia - Out Of Style

Jericho popped up in a playlist for me the other day and I was instantly grabbed. It has a great retro vibe at first and later just builds into this full and bright, almost Coldplay type energy. Funny story, I didn't realize who it was at first but I had actually met Mark a few years back while singing at a close friend's wedding. He was very kind and as a close friend of a close friend I'm all for giving him all the support. If you haven't heard any of his stuff yet, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Thanks for joining me for another edition of Music Monday. This is probably one of my favorite selection of songs yet. Until next time.
